Cruising Toward Costa Rica (MAR 02)
This morning at 0800 we were about 6゚ North of the equator. The temperature was 80. Seas were generally calm.
All day long other ships were in sight traveling in our direction or the reciprocal. At 1100, the map above showed our location (circled in red) and mostly cargo ships (green), a few tankers (red) and one other passenger vessel (blue).
During his noon announcements, our ship's captain advised us that during the night on March 6th winds could get upwards of 50 knots seas over 30 feet. He sounded too me like a man starting early on controlling expectations.
In my March 6th post, I will include an explanation of what creates these conditions and why we will move into and out of the worst of the conditions fairly quickly.
There is not much else to report for today. We have lengthy tours the next three days, so there will likely be some slippage in postings.
