Caribbean Sea - Columbia Basin (MAR 26)
At 0700, ROTTERDAM was near the southern end of the Windward Passage and in the open water of the Columbian Basin headed directly to Curacao.
It is another sea day, so lots of things to do (or not do), but little too report.
Yesterday, I enjoyed walking around on the top outdoor deck even though there was a stiff breeze when going forward. The velocity was a combination of local wind speed and direction aligning with the ship's forward speed and direction.
Today, after a few laps I abandoned that walk, retreating to the promenade deck which offered some shelter from the wind. The head-to-wind speed over the top deck was over 40 knots (~44 mph).
The promenade deck is the third deck on ROTTERDAM. The walking area encircles the superstructure of the ship (i.e. not the foredeck). Although ROTTERDAM is nowhere close to the size of mega cruise ships, she is far from small. 3.5 laps around the promenade deck = 1 mile.
Tomorrow Curacao.
